On March 28, 2022, Jaliyl Johnson approached a car in a parking lot on Marshall Drive, pulled out a gun and pointed it at the victim's head, police said.
The victim ran from the car and Johnson fired a shot at him, but missed, police said. Johnson and a juvenile fled the scene in the victim's stolen vehicle, police said.
The juvenile had turned himself in a few days after the incident and was charged with carjacking and unlawful possession of a firearm, among other charges, police said.
After further investigation, detectives determined Johnson was behind the carjacking and he was arrested on Tuesday, May 16, police said.
Johnson was charged with attempted murder and carjacking, among other charges, police said.
